What are the tests used?
The Wechsler Battery: IQ/Achievement and Memory. In addition to Visual/Motor Integrative Skills. Checklists and Questionnaires for suspected behaviour and attention issues are also used.
How do I know if my child needs an assessment?
Any time a parent or school feels that the child may not be achieving to their potential.
How long does it take to get an appointment?
Generally, we are booked 2-6 weeks in advance.
What do I need to bring?
Report cards from the last 12 months and any reports prepared by professionals who have seen your child including:
- previous educational assessments
- reports from Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists or other medical professionals
Should my child take their ADHD medication on the days of testing?
They should take whatever medication they take for a regular school day.
How long does it take to get my results?
You will receive an email with report within approximately 4 weeks. When you come in for testing, you will be given a follow-up meeting date with Dr. Hotz to discuss the results.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to your appointment date.
Do you send a copy of the report to the school and the child's doctor(s)?
We only issue the reports to the parents. They are encouraged to share the report with the school and doctors.
Does it matter who brings my child in for the appointment?There are questionnaires to be filled in, which are to be completed on the first day of testing. If a parent is not able to bring their child in, the questionnaires can be sent in advance of the appointment, but must be brought in on the first day of testing. If a parent is not bringing the child in, they must send a letter outlining the child's date of birth and grade.
What are the office hours?We are open Monday-Thursday 8am-4pm and closed on Fridays, weekends and statutory holidays. All phone and email inquiries outside those hours will be responded to on the next business day.

Do you test children who are ESL?
The testing is solely in English.
Do you test for Autism?
No, we do not test for Autism. Our focus is to pinpoint specific learning disorders, academic underachievement, processing difficulties and attention problems.
