About Learning Disability Assessments.

If a child can't read, write, or do mathematics, teach it to do so with clear methodologies to remediate based on dealing with details as determined by psychodiagnostic assessment. 

There are 4 types of learning disability assessments:

Reading Disability

Impairments in:
  • Reading words accurately
  • Reading rate
  • Reading comprehension

Mathematics Disability

Impairments in:
  • Number sense
  • Memorization of arithmetic facts
  • Accurate or fluent calculation
  • Accurate math reasoning

Written Expression Disability

Impairments in:
  • Spelling
  • Grammar and punctuation
  • Clarity and organization of written expression
  • Handwriting problems (Dysgraphia)

ADHD Attention Concentration

Impairments in:
  • Ability to focus attention and concentrate and/or hyperactivity
  • Memory difficulties
  • Hotz Consultants assess children from age 6 through 16 years, 11 months.
  • We also assess adults from age 17 and older.
  • These assessments are carried out over 2 sessions lasting 2-2.5 hours.
  • We also assess learning disabled adults (from age 16.5 months and up) to help them choose an appropriate career. These assessments are called vocational or career assessments and involve IQ testing, academic achievement testing (reading, math, written expression) and are usually carried out over 2 sessions.
  • Sometimes teenagers and adults request an assessment to diagnose both learning disabilities and a vocational assessment. These are called combined assessments and are carried out over 3 sessions.
  • Most assessments are booked on Monday and Tuesday morning from 8:30am - 11:00am and 11:15am - 1:45pm.
  • Combined assessments are done on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
